Does Your Loved One Need An At Home Nurse? Find Out With These Signs

It is important to make sure that you are staying on top of the health and overall well being of your aging loved ones. This way, you will be able to have an easier time figuring out if they are now in need of at home nursing services. If you would like a little assistance figuring this out, you will want to take a moment to review the following information.

Keeping Up With Hygiene Is Becoming A Problem

Should you notice that your elderly family member is no longer as hygienic as they used to be, you will want to get to the bottom of the issue. It could be depression, which will need to be brought to the attention of their doctor. Under the right care, their depression can be managed and that may help solve the hygiene problem. However, if it is not that and it is that they are either simply forgetting a lot or it is becoming too difficult for them to shower themselves, you might want to call in at home nursing services. The professional nurses that will come to their home will help make sure that they are staying clean and keeping their hair and teeth brushed.

They Are Falling A Lot

A small fall to a young person might not be that big of a deal. However, the same fall for an elderly individual can mean a broken hip. Too many aging individuals find themselves at an increased risk of falling because they are straining themselves to complete household duties that are no longer as easy as they used to be for them. Instead of continuing to leave your loved one at home alone, you can have a nurse come in and assist them with a lot of their daily living goals and activities. This alone can lessen the chances of them falling and severely injuring themselves. Also, should your loved one fall on their own when no one is there, you will know that there will be someone there later, whenever the nurse is scheduled to come in. This will ensure that your family member will be found and will get the proper medical treatment.

You will want to make sure that you are taking your time when it comes to selecting an in home health care facility. This way, you will know that your loved one will be getting optimal care. Call and make appointments for consultations at the various facilities that you are considering, as this will give you ample time to ask questions and get an overall feel for the company and how they care for their patients.
